Is Theatre Mode legal while driving?

Laws regarding in-vehicle screens vary by country and region. TBG-Chip activates Theatre Mode as a passenger feature. We strongly recommend using the Hansshow Swiveling Mount to physically turn the screen away from the driver's field of view when using Theatre Mode in motion.

Does Autopilot stay active with Theatre Mode on?

Yes. TBG-Chip activates Theatre Mode through Tesla's existing software architecture without interfering with Autopilot, navigation, or any driver assistance features. All safety systems remain fully operational.

Can I use Theatre Mode without the Hansshow mount?

Yes — TBG-Chip unlocks Theatre Mode regardless of whether the mount is installed. Without the mount, we recommend using Theatre Mode while parked. With the mount, the screen rotates toward the passenger, fully removing it from the driver's sightline.

Which streaming services are supported?

Theatre Mode on Tesla supports any service available through the Tesla browser — including Netflix, YouTube, Disney+, Prime Video, and others.

Will Theatre Mode work after a Tesla OTA update?

TBG-Chip includes built-in OTA compatibility patches. If a Tesla update temporarily affects Theatre Mode, a TBG-Chip update is typically issued within 48 hours. All updates are free.

What is Tesla Theatre Mode?

Tesla builds entertainment into every vehicle it makes. Theatre Mode — video on the center screen — is one of those built-in features. By default, Tesla only allows it when the car is parked.

TBG-Chip is a plug-and-play CAN module that connects under the glovebox. Once paired in the TBG-Chip app, it removes the park-only limit so Theatre Mode can run while the car is moving.

Autopilot stays fully active. Navigation does not stop. The only change: your passenger gets a 15-inch entertainment screen.

TBG-Chip is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to Tesla, Inc. Using Theatre Mode while driving is the driver’s sole responsibility. Keep the driver’s view of the road clear at all times.

Want Theatre Mode while driving? Add the swiveling mount.

By default, the Tesla center screen faces the driver. When TBG-Chip unlocks Theatre Mode in motion, that same screen plays video — so it can enter the driver’s field of view.

The fix: the Hansshow Swiveling Mount Kit. A powered mount that turns the Tesla screen toward the passenger and out of the driver’s view.

With the swiveling mount installed:

The screen turns toward the passenger
The driver sees only the road
Theatre Mode can run while driving
Autopilot and navigation stay fully active on the driver’s display

Without the mount, TBG-Chip still unlocks Theatre Mode — but we recommend using it only when parked, for safety and to stay within the law in your country.
